What is Bowen
Bowen Therapy

Consider Bowen Therapy

Bowen therapy, or the Bowen technique, is a non-invasive, complementary holistic therapy. It targets certain points on the body with gentle rolling movements to help it balance, repair and reset itself. Clients are believed to experience energy recovery, a reduction in pain and an improvement of function.

Consider Bowen for the following conditions:

Bowen therapy is gaining recognition by health care providers throughout the world for its use in:

  • chronic and acute pain, particularly sciatica, back and neck pain, joint pain, and fasciitis;
  • joint dysfunction and reduced mobility;
  • headaches, including migraines;
  • gastrointestinal disturbances, including colic;
  • infertility and other reproductive issues;
  • breast tenderness; and
  • lymphedema.

Cancer survivors have found Bowen to be particularly helpful when trying to manage the symptoms associated with chemotherapy.

It also has been shown to have a positive effect on fatigue and stress because of its calming influences on the nervous system.

How Bowen Works

Fascia: Each Bowen move is done at the level of the superficial fascia and affects the relationship between the fascia and the nerve, muscle or tendon being mobilized.
